Still looking at a book proposal

I want to continue to dissect the parts of a non-fiction book proposal. These two may seem unimportant, but when an agent or editor is considering representing your work, they are looking at all these elements, so put as much time into them as anything else.

The introduction, preface or forward...call it what you want. According to one source you should "infect the reader with your purpose, passion and enthusiasm." This introduces the reader to your topic. Read examples in similar books already in the marketplace.

Also let the agent or editor know if someone else has committed to writing the introduction and provide a brief bio of that person. I have someone in mind to ask to write the preface for my true crime book.

The next part of the proposal is the Author's Bio. These should read like book jackets. Read a few and get a feel for them. Highlight why you are especially qualified to author a book on this topic. Include a section of book reviews if you are previously published.
