Know any characters?

We are always on the lookout for interesting people to write about. That was one of the reasons we developed our Character of the Crossroads series a couple of years ago. Not that these subjects of the stories are "characters," but they lend character to our communities. Or maybe a little of both.

I wrote the very first one, about Carl "Juno" Werner of Hallettsville in March 2009.

Do you know any interesting people who deserve to be featured in the paper? They can be helpful, quirky, funny, have an interesting hobby or weird job. Just about anything except public officials, who get their names in the paper all the time anyway.

These folks are your friends, neighbors, strangers that catch your eye ... almost anyone.

If you know of someone who fits that bill -- for me, especially in my coverage areas of DeWitt and Lavaca counties -- give me a holler. I'd love to meet some more characters!
