Image Christmas in Goliad is Saturday and among all the bull-riding Santa, skating rink and handcrafted delights for sale, will be one of the event's most unusual attractions -- Ruby's Authors Corral.

Eleven area authors are slated to be there -- all in one place -- with their books for sale and signing just in time for Christmas gifts. I will be among them for the first time with my book "Among Murderers and Madness," and am excited about the opportunity.

Am looking forward to seeing former Advocate writer Henry Wolf and his talented wife Linda there, too, as well as former Advocate food columnist Emily Buckert and her books.

Other authors slated to be "rounded-up" in the corral include those who have written volumes from the historical to the whimsical. They include Louise O'Connor, Michelle Harvey Perez, Dr. Thomas Kreneck, Celia Hayes, Dr. Felix Almaraz Jr., Jesse Villareal, Joe Lopez and Dr. Gilbert Cruz.

So come on out to Goliad -- the authors will be there from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- doing a little Christmas shopping for the book lovers on your list.

See you there.
