Question of the day: What have you learned about hurricane preparedness?

As Hurricane Sandy is about to hit the East Coast, folks in this part of the country can empathize with the people living there. We live with the threats of hurricanes every year. Our question of the day touches on that reality. Living in South Texas, what have you learned about hurricane preparedness that maybe those on the East coast are now having to deal with?
