There is a fairly new support group in the area called Grandparents Raising Grandchildren. It's numbers have grown since it was formed in April of last year as it continues to provide a place for grandparents in that situation to meet others like them, "re-learn" parenting skills and show the children that they, too, are not alone. We'd like to know what role your grandparents played in your upbringing or what role they play in your children's. I can't say mine were very close, mainly due to the distance we lived apart -- I only remember one set, the others died when I was fairly young -- but we did make regular treks to see "Dommie" and "Gramps" to partake of holiday spreads and mingle with other family members from afar. I also remember getting $5 in the mail every birthday until I was well into my 20s. I'll be at Halepaska's Bakery this morning until 10:30. Stop by and tell me about your grandparents.
