For the last several years, the question of the day has been a staple in the Advocate. Five days a week our ranging reporters were out in the coffee shops, restaurants and other places people gather in the Crossroads asking their opinions on a variety of topics. Those topics ran the gamut, from current events to favorite traditions on a given holiday. Two of the responses even ended up on Jay Leno's "Headlines" segment on his late night talk show. Today will be the last question of the day as a regular feature in the paper. We will still pursue "man on the street" opinions when a story might dictate, but the daily question is being discontinued. Our ranging reporters, and I am the last of the original group, will continue to be out and about talking to the public in Victoria and the outlying counties, seeking story ideas, getting feedback, conducting interviews and writing about interesting people.
So, our final question of the day asks how can the newspaper get our readers more involved? We already welcome your photo and story submissions, letters to the editor, guest columns, thumbs up and thumbs down suggestions and Speak Out comments. What more would you like the Advocate to do to continue to engage our readers as a vital member of our community newspaper? I will be at Halepaska's Bakery until 9 a.m. Stop by and let me know what you think. See you soon.
