Image This is likely meaningless in the larger scheme of things, but I am learning at a snail's pace how to transfer pictures from my camera to the computer to my blog, etc. Bear with me here. If this picture comes out right, it is of my cat, Sunny, a very large, gorgeous longhaired orange tabby. Be patient with me, this is a new skill for me. Woohoo for me if it comes out right.

  • Woohoo, I am sorry for the loss of your Pumpkin (love that name!). Sometimes it is almost impossible to "rehabilitate" an animal that was not properly socialized, or wild, during its formative years. I am glad that you are enjoying your grey tabby. Just give all the love you can to her, and maybe a hug or two from Pumpkin. Thank you for being such a good parent to your pets.

  • Your dear cat reminds me of our Pumpkin who was an orange tabby.   She ran off and never returned.  She was always skittish.  We took her in as a last resort home at the pleading of my mother-in-law.  I think she had bad experiences as a kitten.  She always avoided people.  It was sad.  You had to catch her to pet her.  Once she was caught, she let you pet her, though.  Cute cat.
Now we have a gray tabby.  Our dachshund loves her.  They play like best friends.  The dog chases the cat until the cat chases the dog.  It is funny.
BTW, all of our animals have always been spayed and taken to the vet regularly.

  • Thanx, ft. He is beautiful, if I do say so myself. Maryann, thank you for being such a responsible and caring owner (of course, those who have cats know WHO really owns WHO!). All of our animals (5 cats, 1 dog) are altered, too. Except for the horse, hahaha!

  • Hello FT,
I love cats too. I have four- a tabby (John Paul), his black brother (Benedict), a tabby-white female, JP's, daughter (Therese), and a Siamese cross, (Michael).  We've had all of our cats neutered, as the cat population tended to rise, and my overflow valve (Grandma's house) was getting too congested.  Cats are great. I like dogs, but they are sometimes to dependent for me.

  • What a pretty tabby. I have two cats. :-)

  • Thanx for the feedback, y'all. Sunny is large (about 16 pounds) but not the largest cat I have had. My late Caesar, a solid white longhaired cat was even bigger, not exactly fat, just very large size for a cat. He weighed 24 pounds. Sunny is also large, and not really fat, but he is very muscular and stocky. My cats are starting to get their winter coats, and my other long-haired female, C.C., is looking large too. Alot of it is the hair, but they are just bigger than the average cat, I think. Of course, I spoil mine rotten, so MAYBE they are a little more on the chunky rather than slim side, but are very healthy.
Rusty: Trust me, you do not want my camera AND my/your computer broken if I publish a pic of myself!
Thanks, Maryann and Rusty. I might get the hang of this after all.

  • Wow, that's a really big cat. How did he get so fat? I've been trying to fatten my cats up for years, and they just get slick.

  • SHUG: Since you did such a good job posting the pic of Sunny, now you can post one of yourself. Hugs
