And good riddance. To 2008, I mean. I feel at this moment like I have the most monumental hangover from the year that was. What a year! There seems to have been a most palpable nastiness, an undercurrent of unrest and unease this past year worldwide.
On a personal note, the level of upheaval has been unparalleled. Unpleasantness and tragedy has been the order of the year, it seems. I can scarcely remember a year so replete with strife, struggle, and tumult as this past year has dished out.
My hope for the coming year is more peace, more unity, more kindness, and more good fortune for all of us. I wish for everyone a better year than 2008. I believe that a fresh start is what so many of us need. Let's make the best of it.
I know I don't want a repeat of 2008. It can now be left behind, so I say, "Goodbye to all that", and "Welcome" to 2009. May she be a sight better than the last.

SHUG: MUCH BETTER HUGS.
January 1, 2009 at 11:57 p.m.Good to hear you've been let loose from the hoosegow, er....I mean, the horsepistol, Pilot. Yes, we passed, and here's to good friends and stubborn cusses who REFUSE to give in or give up. *CLINK*
January 1, 2009 at 7:36 p.m.Here's looking at you, Mike, and 2009.
Thanks so much for your replies. I do wish you all a very happy new year. "I hope it's a good one, without any fear" as a great man once said.
January 1, 2009 at 3:15 p.m.Rusty - how's this? I will start typing in larger font. I figure it can't hurt, might help, right? Happy new year to you, sir!
GO SHUG. Here's hopin' you get your NY wishes. May I ask a favor? Could you please help us older, more used up, folks a BIG favor? Long ago someone asked me to, "Please use BIGGER fonts so I can read your emails.. Bold would be even better." I had failed to consider those folks with failing eyesight. Maybe ask granny and pop to comment on font sizes to see what they're comfortable with. Thanks, hugs
January 1, 2009 at 2:18 p.m.Happy New Year Sugar Magnolia! Cheers to 2008 becoming a distant memory & the hopes of a happy, healthy 2009!
January 1, 2009 at 10:54 a.m.My sentiments exactly it seems like it was bad news replacing bad news....Happy New Year .
January 1, 2009 at 9:01 a.m.Ditto to your feelings. My hub and I continue to be blessed, but my family members are in a world of hurt right now. My mom worries about all of them, and I fear that the stress will send her to an early grave even after her children spent a year getting her healthy again. I brought her to Houston to enjoy the sights. She claims that I have taken everyone but her on these outings. After this week, she might remember again. Who knows? Brother and sister are in place to let her live with them off and on, and my job will be to take her away and let them have a break. I pray that the productive Americans we know and love will be able to weather the tasks at hand of helping build American pride once again.
January 1, 2009 at 8:39 a.m.SugarMagnolia - I don't always agree with you, but in this case, AMEN!!!! I am so hoping that 2009 will bring peace, stability, and serenity to us all! May this year bring an end to the financial stress and woes to our community and country. May we see a nation united and pulling together to put us back where we need to be. May God Bless each and every one of us and we may recognize His Blessings and Give Thanks. Happy New Year to you Sugar Magnolia
