There will be a state-wide constitutional amendment election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. I mention this two months ahead of time because beginning Friday, September 4th we can start accepting applications for ballots by mail.

A two month lead time to make a request that you be mailed a ballot seems a little long. That is until you think that some of the ballots we will mail may have to go halfway around the world and back.

We will begin mailing the ballots later this month (45 days prior to election day) and use this lead time to prepare the necessary documents and perform the proper checks on the applications.

Balloting by mail is open to only a few individuals. You may request a ballot by mail if you are 65 years of age or older. You may request a ballot by mail if you have a disability which prevents you from going to a polling location. You may request a ballot by mail if you are confined in jail and do not have a final felony conviction. You may request a ballot by mail if you will be absent from the county during early voting in person and on election day.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Elections Office at elections@vctx.org or 361-576-0124 or by mail at 111 N. Glass, Victoria, Texas 77901.
