It seems we have a recurring theme this year, there is an election in our near future. Saturday, May 8th the City of Victoria along with the Water Control & Improvement Districts Nos. 1 & 2 and the Quail Creek Municipal Utility District will conduct a joint election.

Now I know you'll wonder how the water districts in Bloomington and Placedo and the MUD district can conduct a joint election with the city. They have no territory which overlaps and no voters who vote in both. Yet through the miracle of modern election law political subdivisions holding an election on the same day may conduct their elections as a joint election saving money for all entities concerned.

Most of the savings come through shared costs for programming of equipment, early voting operations, mail ballot processing and publishing of notices. There will still be the costs associated with Election Day polling locations but every little bit in today's economy helps.

On Election Day (Saturday, May 8th) the polls in the city and in Placedo, Bloomington and Quail Creek will be open from 7 am to 7 pm.

Early Voting in Person will begin Monday, April 26th and end Tuesday, May 4th. The Main Early Voting Polling Place located at 111 N. Glass will be open 8 am to 5 pm each weekday. On Friday, April 30th and Tuesday, May 4th we will be open from 7 am to 7 pm.

There will also be temporary early voting branch sites located in Placedo, Bloomington and Quail Creek in their district offices on Friday, April 30th and Tuesday, May 4th. These will be open from 8 am to 5 pm.

We have been receiving applications to vote by mail for this election for several weeks now. If you quality to vote by mail we will send you a ballot. The last day for us to receive an application to vote by mail is Friday, April 30th at 5 pm.

As always, should you or any of your associates be caught or captured..... Sorry, that's an old joke.
