Tuesday, October 26th is the last day for voters who qualify to submit an application to vote by mail. Applications must be received in the office no later than 5 pm.

An application to vote by mail must be in writing. You may find a form at our web site www.vctx.org/elections. Select Mail Ballot. Print the form and either mail or fax the form to our office. The fax number is included on the application. You might also call the office and request we mail you a form or you may come by and pick up the form. Since early voting has begun the form must be returned through the mail.

Not everyone is eligible to vote by mail. To qualify you must meet one or more of the following criteria.

be 65 years of age or older
have a disability which prevents you from entering a polling place
be confined in jail (with no felony conviction)
be absent from the county during early voting or on election day

If your reason is absence from the county the ballot must be mailed to an address outside of the county.

Most of the voters by mail have already submitted their application especially those who vote through the Federal Postcard Application process. The FPCA is for members of the military and their spouses or citizens living or working overseas. Due to the time required for ballots to travel through the mails these voters have hopefully already requested their ballot.

You may know of a student who is away from home for the first time. You might also want to remind them to vote in this election. Let them know they can fax their application if they are living away from home (and the county).

Upon receipt of the application we will mail you a ballot. Complete your ballot and return it by mail. For all regular applications the ballot must returned no later than Election Day. FPCA voters get additional five more days.
