The last day to register to vote for the November 2, 2010 General Joint Election is Monday, October 4th. All U.S. Citizens who will be at least 18 years old by Election Day and reside in Victoria County are eligible to vote. The only exceptions are felons or individuals who have been determined by a court to be mentally incapacitated. But to be eligible to vote you must also register.

The simplest way to register is to visit the Elections Office at 111 N. Glass between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm on weekdays. There you may ask for a voter registration application, complete the information on the card and sign it. We will also be happy to mail you an application but be cautioned that the application must be returned to us with a postal cancellation date stamp no later than October 4th.

You may also register or update your voter registration when you renew or change your driver's license. The Department of Public Safety Driver's License Station provide this service when you visit their office. It is a good idea to update your voter registration when you update your driver's license information.

Any high school student who will be 18 years old on or before Election Day may register now. Contact the principal at your school for an application.

While most people register, they sometimes forget to change their registration when they move. Your residence determines what will be on your ballot. You must update your voter registration when you move. A change of address with the post office does not change your voter registration.
