Well we all thought Thursday, December 15th was the last day to file but the United State District Court for the Western District of Texas came up with a new last day to file. Candidates wishing to be on the ballot for the primary election now have a new deadline of Monday, December 19th at 6pm.

Candidates for state and federal offices should submit their application to the State Party Chair in Austin. Candidates for local offices should submit their application to the County Party Chairmen. All applications must be submitted with a filing fee or petition in lieu of a filing fee. This is for most of the candidates to be on the primary ballot.

Candidates for US Congress, State Senate and State Representative should file their applications but will be able to alter or withdraw that application once the boundaries of these districts are known. The court will set new filing periods for these offices at a latter time.

Currently the primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6th but that date is now under review and another date may be set. It sometimes feels as though we are following the bouncing ball. We know the words to the song and know the tune, we just need the bouncing ball (courts) to tell us when to sing.

Have a Merry Christmas and stay safe.
