There is only one week left for those who wish to vote early in the Constitutional Amendment Election. Early Voting in Person is open at the Victoria County Elections Office from 8 am to 5 pm every day this week. The office is located at 111 N. Glass.
The election will be held on Tuesday, November 8th and voting early is available for every voter. While on election day you may vote only at your precinct polling location, during early voting any registered voter for Victoria County may vote at the Elections Office.
There are ten propositions on the ballot.
No. 1 - Spousal continuation of disabled veteran's tax benefits.
No. 2 - Renewing authority to issue water bonds for the Texas Water Development Board.
No. 3 - Renewing bond authority to finance low-interest student loans.
No. 4 - Allowing counties to participate in certain tax finance zones.
No. 5 - Allowing city and county inter local contracts without a tax sinking fund.
No. 6 - Allowing distribution from the Permanent School Fund to the Available School Fund.
No. 7 - Authorizing districts in El Paso County to issue bonds for parks and recreational facilities.
No. 8 - Appraising open-space land for water stewardship.
No. 9 - Allowing pardon by governor after successful completion of deferred adjudication.
No. 10 - Lengthening period before county officials must resign to run for another office.
As always the propositions placed before the voters will impact the manner in which the citizens of the state conduct business for many years. These constitutional issues may not have as much not "bling" as more popular topics, but each is still important. You may get more information at the Texas Legislature's online site.
