Early Voting in Person for the Primary Runoff Election is just one week long. It began on Monday of this week and will end on Friday. While other elections have a longer period, this is the normal amount of time for a primary runoff.

The Elections Office will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm and on Friday from 7 am to 7 pm. We will also open a temporary branch polling location at the Bloomington Fire Station on Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm and on Friday from 7 am to 7 pm. The Elections Office is at 111 N. Glass next to the Victoria County Sheriff's Office. The Bloomington Fire Station is on Second Street West in Bloomington.

Early voting by mail has ended. Any voter who requested a ballot in the mail prior to 5 pm on Tuesday has already received a ballot or will receive a ballot soon. The voted ballot must be returned in the mail or by common or contract carrier no later than 7 pm on Tuesday, July 31st.

I am happy to report the number of people coming in for the primary runoff exceeds my original expectations. For those of you who have already voted, good job. For those who have not yet come in to vote there are still a few days.

The Primary Runoff Election Day is Tuesday, July 31, 2012. All thirty-five polling locations in the county will be open from 7 am to 7 pm. On Election Day you may only vote at your precinct polling location. During early voting a person from anywhere in the county can vote at either of the early voting sites.

For more information you may contact the Elections Office at 576-0124 or by e-mailing elections@vctx.org. Have a good day and remember to vote.
