The May 10, 2014 uniform election day (second Saturday in May) is this year Election Day for Water Control & Improvement District No. 1 in Bloomington, Water Control & Improvement District No. 2 in Placedo and Quail Creek Municipal Utility District. Each of these water districts has three director positions coming open and more than three people have filed an application to be on the ballot. Only voters who reside and are registered within the boundaries of each district are eligible to vote in their respective elections.

Although the areas of these districts are small, each of these districts provide important services to their constituents. As you may have heard, water is a necessity for life. If you have been without water for any period of time or just thirsty during the day you begin to understand how essential these services are.

Two elections originally called for May 10th have been cancelled. The Victoria Independent School District had two trustees positions up for election in 2014, districts 3 & 5. The Victoria College had three trustee positions open this year in districts 2, 5 & 7. Only the incumbents filed for all these positions.
