Current Victoria municipal arrest warrants list

If you read my Watchdog column today, you know to look here for current arrest warrants issued in Victoria.

Following is a list of all folks who have a municipal warrant out for their arrest, as well as the amount owed, according to records provided by Victoria Municipal Court.

The list totals 4,747 warrants. The amount this group owes to the city totals more than $2 million, an Advocate tabulation shows.

Of course, some of the warrants date back quite a number of years.

If you or your neighbor is on the list, this is a friendly reminder that money is owed.

The list is valid as of Thursday, Jan. 8. Names of those who pay fines are not removed until a new list is issued, which is done once a month.

If your name is not listed, and you have an outstanding ticket, call Victoria Municipal Court at 361-485-3050.

    I AGREE  WITH JOHN, YOU KNOW SOME PEOPLE GO THROUGH HARD TIMES AND HAVE A SPELL OF BAD LUCK, BE A LITTLE MORE UNDERSTANDING.  SOMETIMES PEOPLE NEED A HELPING HAND.  NOT ALWAYS JUST SOMETIMES. HUMILITY.  LOOK IT UP.

    THIS IS ONE MORE EXAMPLE OF POOR LEADERSHIP ON THE PART OF OUR CITY MANAGER AND ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER. COUPLED WITH THEIR ADVERSARIAL POSTURE TOWARDS THE CITIZENS OF VICTORIA,  I AM NOT SHOCKED THEY WOULD ENCOURAGE NEIGHBORS TO SQUEAL ON NEIGHBORS IN ORDER TO COLLECT MISDEMEANOR FINES.   HOW REVOLTING CAN YOU GET.  PLUS, WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT. THAT'S THEIR JOB. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU ALSO ADD UP TO 30% FOR SOME LAW FIRM OUT OF AUSTIN, TEXAS TO COLLECT THOSE FINES.  I CAN JUST SEE THOSE GUYS POUNDING THE STREETS AND BARS IN THEIR SUITS, OR BANGING ON DOORS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS TRYING TO FIND PEOPLE.  PLEASE, GIVE ME A BREAK.  JUST ANOTHER WAY TO STEP ON THE NECK OF PEOPLE SIMPLY TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING.
    NO WAY. THEY WILL SIMPLY SIT BACK AND COLLECT FEES, RIGHT ALONG WITH THE STATE OF TEXAS AND DPS SURCHARGES, WHEN, BY SOME CIRCUMSTANCE, A FEW OF THESE CITIZENS GET BUSTED.

    THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL SHOULD LOOK AT THESE TACTICS AND CONSIDER A MORE HONORABLE AND CITIZEN-FRIENDLY METHOD.  BEING HONORABLE.  WHAT A NOVEL IDEA!
