The deadline for GC's Top 5 movers and shakers is nearing and I have a small stack growing in a folder on my desk. I would love to read more about what people are doing in the Golden Crescent and encourage you to submit a nomination.
So far, I've read about a person who has organized tournaments to raise funds for different organizations and another who volunteers time to one of the local pet adoption centers and serves on various boards throughout Victoria. The time and work that these people give back to the community is amazing. It seems that each of them shares with their community a piece of their heart. One of the nominees, who has committed her efforts to provide education to the community, even mentors at the Victoria high schools and, on occasion, will teach classes.
Community programs are often organized by people who keep the wheels turning, but don't receive the recognition for their hard work. Give someone you know who is a "doer," a "mover", or a "shaker" a proper gesture of appreciation.
We want to recognize the area's best, but we need help finding them. If you know a mover and shaker in the area and want a chance to recognize him/her for their hard work, send a nomination, no more than one page, to GC@vicad.com or snail mail it to:
Jessica Rodrigo/Top 5 Victoria Advocate 311 E. Constitution Victoria, TX 77901
Be sure to include the nominee's telephone, email address, community involvement and why he/she is worthy of being in the GC's Top 5. The deadline is Jan. 13, so hurry.
Check out an example of the Top 5 here.
I look forward to reading the nominations. If you have questions, contact me at 361-574-1224.
