It actually feels like fall. As I sit here at my desk typing this, I am bundled up in a sweater and scarf. It’s not a heavy sweater or scarf, but I am toasty.

Take a stroll at the mall, Shop the World or Rendezvous in Cuero, and I’m certain it would make you feel like you should be wearing mittens with a matching scarf, too. Stores all over the Crossroads are covered in lights and decorations ready for the holidays. So that means Christmas trees, miniature Santa Clauses, snowmen and reindeer everywhere. And would you believe it’s not even Thanksgiving, yet? I know that I am not prepared.

Ultimately, that means the crunch for holiday shopping is around the corner, too. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Inside your Wednesday newspaper, you will find the Holiday Issue of Golden Crescent Magazine. It’s our first issue dedicated to holidays and we’ve worked hard to bring you ideas for decorating the tree, a compilation of holiday events in the Golden Crescent, recipes to bring in 2013 and more.

We also feature the area’s top veterinarians in this issue, all of which could not have happened without the help of our readers. Thank you to everyone who sent in their nomination letters. They were a pleasure to read – even the one that brought me to the brink of crying.

We hope that you enjoy the Holiday Issue and all the hard work that we put into it. Don’t forget about the next nomination for the area’s Top 5 secretaries/administrative assistants. We want to meet the hardest-working people at your office who are there to make sure everything is running smoothly, schedules and deadlines met and all the other things that people don’t know about.

Send them to gc@vicad.com, and once we choose our favorite stories, we will feature 5 of them in the March/April issue. I look forward to reading them all. Thanks again to all of our readers and all of those who have submitted nominations for any of our Top 5 categories. Without you, it would be hard to feature them.
