Here's one for SWEET MAGGIE (Sugar Magnolia) . The riding mower was lashed way too loosely behind the Tacoma. Its run to the left was way beyond its planned route. BAM!!!! The truck sort of shuddered and lept ahead when the nylon rope broke. Oh crap, the mower had gotten too friendly with what HAD been the support pole for the unintended starling and sparrow condo. Never the purple martin palace it could've been, what started out as scrap lumber was suddenly a pile of worthless scrap. The next tie-up, VERY close to the back bumper, worked well.

Rusty - loved this story, although I'm sure you would have rather not had it happen. Sorry, I'm behind on my reading, but I figure better late than never, right? That's pretty timely, because just yesterday my dad and I were transporting some very long (12-foot) pieces of lumber via his John Deere and small pull-along trailer with me pulling up the rear on foot and guiding/holding the planks to make sure they would not fall off. And they didn't, they made it from one acre to the next without incident. Hope you see this; I don't think we're notified via e-mail anymore when we get a new blog post, are we?
