Today's PARADE section of the Advocate had an advertisement for a new book about 1,000 uses for vinegar. Do our bodies sometimes "crave" vinegar in small amounts like, say, they may crave salt or chocolate? There have been wrinkled noses and weird comments when Rusty was seen sipping vinegar. Of course, he's often heard such terms of endearment as crazy, weird, stupid, idiot. It's been quite amusing when his reasons have been found to be valid. What are some of the "home remedies" or uses for vinegar that you're aware of? Of us more "mature" folks, what were the home remedies your folks used? Makin' pickles, washing windows, rinsin' soap out of your hair, as a douche.

Rusty, vinegar is simply diluted acetic acid, and in such a low concentration as to not be harmful if you drink it. CAVEAT: don't drink a whole gallon, mind you. I do the same with sour pickle juice and lemon juice. Sometimes you just get a craving for really acidic foods, and ya gotta have some.
One of my favorite household uses for vinegar is to pour some baking soda in our stainless steel sink, some down the drain, then follow up with a liberal dosing of vinegar and watch the fireworks! It cleans very well, leaving a fresh scent, and is environmentally kind. And believe me, I use vinegar on pots and pans, toilet bowl, etc. because we have some very hard well water at our house. It cuts through those minerals quite well.
