Please forgive me if this was asked before. Upon returning from a trip of any length, do you always find your home as ship shape as you'd like it to be? What happens if it isn't?
If it's spiffy did hubby bust his buns at the last minute to get it that way? Does he eat out or just use paper plates?

  • Actually, he does help out around the house but it seems to greatly annoy him. I'm at the point that I want to sell the house lock, stock & barrel & move into a 1 bedroom something......I'm tired & me & cleaning were never good friends, merely acquaintances, now turning into bitter enemies. Hiring out would be best but finding someone reliable & trustworthy is not an easy task. This is a problem that unfortunately will not resolve itself any time soon.

  • Not at this time or ever. I had help once a week when I worked, and every other week now that I am retired. His retirement is now just a year and a half away, and his honeydo list will definitely increase. I'm not such a neat freak anymore, and if it doesn't bother him, it doesn't bother me.

  • My wife is my best friend, she is not my house keeper. I prefer to help her will the house work in order for us to spend more time together. Life is short, and the important thing in life is the memories we create. It is difficult to have wonderful memories if your wife is always busy cleaning or doing chores.

  • VBB: He must really be sharp not to realize weekend honeymoons are worth more to y'all than the cost of someone to come in and take the load off you. Or, is he so far over the hill that he can't honeymoon anymore? Did you marry him just to clean the house for him? It sounds like you should clean his clock, it must be full of cobwebs.

  • I have just returned home from a long, exhausting trip & the answer is NO, the house is nowhere near how I left it! In his defense he does work long, odd hours, but he did shoot down my request for hiring out the house work. What really irritates me is he also throws a fit when I don't spend my weekends cleaning, considering that is about the only time I am here anymore.

Since I haven't seen the inside of a grocery store in over a year, we always eat out, so I have had to get creative in expressing my displeasure.
