Historically, when a couple produces a child which is both anatomically male AND female (an INTER-SEX CHILD) they arbritrarily have it FIXED surgically. Is this CORRECT? Is it FAIR to the child? i WONDER if this is the reason some people claim they've always felt as if they're trapped in the body of a person of the other gender. Surely parents are trying to do what they think best for their child. Sometimes they may not want to deal with the stigma that many UNINFORMED/INSENSITIVE people would attribute to such a child. This shouldn't be any different than being born with 12 fingers and 12 toes. In the US there are 65,000 inter-sex kids born every year, Maybe there IS some validity to the claim that "GOD MADE 'EM THAT WAY" BUT THE PARENTS AND DOCTORS SCREWED THAT ALL UP. with their phobias and "good intentions". There is a growing movement now to "STOP INTER-SEX GENITAL MUTILATION" More facts and comments can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7WfCqSNR6E&feature=related Do any of our readers have any experience with or comments about this?
