The Houston Open got off to a very windy start today. In fact, the winds blew at times at 50 mph.

Those conditions were enough to force the postponement of the first round with only a handful of players able to get on the course. Before the wind blew, an early morning thunderstorm delayed play for a couple of hours.

Lee Westwood manage to get in half a round and was at 4-under and leading by two shots over eight others.

Play is expected to resume Friday morning with the PGA Tour hoping to get both the first and second rounds in.
