Today is an ugly winter day here in the "land down under". I thought I would be headed back to my apartment in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea tomorrow morning, but that just didn't work out. So, I'm stuck here in Brisbane, Australia for another 2 days. Don't get me wrong. Australia is beautiful and there is much about Brisbane that reminds me of Houston. But after a couple of days in a really expensive city, when all I'm really doing is killing some time, well, let's just say it not as much fun as it was the first time I came through.

So today finds me perusing pages of the Victoria Advocate and figuring out what I am missing from "back home". I thought I would list a few of them here:

- taquitos, Mexican food, and Spanish accents
- wide open spaces
- afternoons fishing from the pier
- pizza ordered on the Internet
- $6 movies (Twin Dolphins)
- drivers on the left, cars on the right
- Walmart
- South Texas accents (ya'll, git, fixin to, etc.)
