Whoa! That is scary! A good thing my sister in law taught my niece (when she was about 2 1/2) who didn't like to have her hand held very much was to hold on to her pocket whenever they are in public places. This also helps my sister in law unload or load whatever she needs to into or out of her car. It is also too cute to see, she looks like a little monkey!
Unfortunately, yes, sometimes it does take a tragedy. I see many children come into the ER as a result of accidents that could have been prevented. Not necessarily intentional neglect by the parents, but, folks, it only takes a minute for a child to slip out of sight into the arms of danger. Thanx for this timely reminder, World Turning. And give your kids a hug for me and all the children out there who aren't around to hug anymore.
