Typical VISD, not going to hire until next week because they could not get enough board members there! Unbelievable!!! I guess I care to much, but I think it is pretty important to have someone hired by Feb. 1 so they can get busy on the scheduling when the new district alignment comes out. Who will do this Mr. Moore?
rusty, don't you think the AD ought to know something about Football so he can hire and evaluate a football coach. And tstorm ,you bet I think the school board should go out and find a great coach instead of just placing an ad. Thats what great companies do, so why not us. We already hired an unqualified AD, lets don't do it again. I do not mean to stri the ---, I just want people to be aware.
Since uforreal keeps stirring the ----, when he made those silly remarks last week about the AD not knowing anything about football I'll ask the question that popped up then. WHAT does the athletic director HAVE to know about football? Isn't his job the administration of the athletic department? That would require him to be able to ADMINISTER all the athletic entities, right? Just because a guy can coach doesn't mean he can administer a dog fight more less the big department this guy has to. urorreal's kid would have to be an extra hard worker to prove his worth to the team for the coach to have to deal with such an obvious horse's neck of a parent. I hope the kid doesn't strut around like his jock strap is too little just because his dad has taught him to act like it is.
Wasn't a majority of that bad rating based on the dropout rate? Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought I read that somewhere. Sorry, but since when is VISD a babysitter? I bet the majority of the kids that SHOWED up to class received a good education. VISD can't hold every child's hand to school. Parents need to take responsibility.
I have no doubt that these 2 new schools will get a good rating soon. The whole Memorial HS was a bust. Things will be back to normal soon. Just wait and see.
RedRage, let me try this again. VISD has been rated as "Academically Unacceptable" by the TEA. Now, I am not naive to not know how important the parents are when it comes to education but at the end of the day, being "Academically Unacceptable" is more important that the next football or sport director. Just because you "got" yours, dont forget about the others and just in case, I got mine too.
VISD will provide a great education for your son or daughter as long as your son or daughter puts in the effort. That is all I'm saying. Don't sit here and blame VISD for your failures in life.
RedRage, I am happy for you and will set up some firecrackers just as soon as I can find some to celebrate your accomplishments. Anyhow, I am more concern with education than sports, although I do follow sports like the next guy. Now, if you honestly think that you can equate a good football program with an excellent educational program, please show me, if not, well, if not......
I don't know about you reyrey, but I am a product of VISD and I hold a masters degree. VISD gave me the tools and I ran with it. It's up to the parents to make sure their kids are doing well. Don't put all the blame on VISD. I laugh when people on here are blaming VISD for their failures.
I dont know about you all but I would be more concerned with how our high school is failing to prepare our students for college or life. I would rather know what we are doing in that area than football.
