  • As a charter member of The Victoria Ballet Theatre I would like to applaud The Advocate for their amazing coverage of the 24th Annual production of "The Nutcracker" in the M3 section!  It was a brilliant way to convey this classic holiday tale to readers while giving them many different perspectives of the production.  It has been my honor to have been involved with this amazing performance for the past 24 years and would like to say BRAVO to everyone who has played a hand in making the "magic" of the stage a reality.  We truly appreciate all those who support the arts and strives to bring outstanding arts opportunities to Victoria and the surrounding communities!
Each of the photos used in the M3 spread was superb and the many characters of "The Nutcracker" were captured in their true on stage representation.  As far as there not being any "mice" featured I would like to offer this detail that many, even the mother who called, may not realize.  That portion of the show is done in dim lighting to truly convey the "Battle Scene" aspect of Clara's adventure.  I am quite sure, judging by the caliber of photos posted by Mr. Tilly, that those taken during that scene did not represent the same true captivating quality as those selected for readers. All 81 of the photos available for view on line are clearly intended to show Victoria Ballet Theatre's detailed and professional portrayal of "The Nutcracker" and for that we are very thankful to Mr. Tilley and The Advocate.
Oh, and by the way, Aprill and Ryan can dance!  BRAVO to everyone who made this year's production of "The Nutcracker" such a success!
