The largest news team in the Crossroads region is on the lookout for you as Tropical Storm Dolly approaches. It appears Dolly will track well south of us, but you can't be too careful.

When a tropical storm or hurricane enters the Gulf of Mexico, we activate our special hurricane site online. We'll update the site throughout the day and evening. The latest projection has Dolly hitting landfall south of Brownsville about noon Wednesday.

Let us know what else you'd like us to add to our special section. With our print edition today, we distributed a hurricane-tracking map and storm-preparation tips. Our online special section contains even more.

As a Kansas native, I'm new to all of this hurricane tracking, but we also have experienced hands like featured blogger David Tewes, our government reporter, and local editor Becky Cooper. For this Jayhawk's benefit, what tips or memories of past hurricanes do you have to share?

Whenever a storm hits, please be sure to share your images here. You also may e-mail them to us directly at While we're waiting to see what happens, do you have any old photos to share of storms gone by?
