My family and I drove through Riverside Park today and realized the Bankshot baskets were gone. Does anybody know when they were removed or why?

We played the game for the first time a couple of months ago when a friend was visiting from out of town. On a whim, I called the 1-800 number listed on a sign by the courts and found myself on a Saturday afternoon talking to the inventor of Bankshot, Rabbi Reeve Brenner.

Despite being called on a Saturday, Brenner was eager to talk about Bankshot and asked how my family was enjoying the game. I told him we all found it fun and unusual. He said the idea of the game was that people of all ages and abilities could play together, unlike in most other sports.

He encouraged me to learn more about Bankshot at its web site. He also sent a link to the National Association for Recreational Equality web site.

Brenner didn't know when the Bankshot courts were installed in Victoria, saying that most of the courts were on the East Coast.

Victoria's Bankshot court was in need of some repair, but my kids moaned when they saw the baskets were gone. Anyone know the story behind bringing Bankshot to Victoria and, now, its sudden departure?
