I heard from the city about why the court was removed. A parks official told me Bankshot was installed about 10 years ago. Since being installed, the courts were lightly used by heavily vandalized, he said. It costs more than $1,000 to repair a backboard, depending on the size and shape complexity. The city decided this year to remove the court rather than keep repairing the backboards.Based on the lack of response to my post, I can't say the city made a wrong decision. It's a pity, though, that vandals ruin things for everyone. Consider the positive spirit of the rabbi who invented the game vs. the reality of what happened to his game in Victoria.
I guess no other online reader misses the BankShot court at Riverside. I still plan to find out what happened to it.
