There's a new dog in town -- or at least on the Advocate's funny pages.
Starting Monday, we introduce you to Patrick McDonnell's "Mutts," one of the most popular comic strips in North America. We hope you'll enjoy the adventures of Earl the dog and Mooch the cat. Earl and Mooch have been stealing readers' hearts since the strip started in 1994, and we thought it was time for Crossroads region readers to adopt them.
Let us know how you like "Mutts" by calling the newsroom at 580-NEWS, e-mailing us at, by writing a letter to the editor or by posting a comment to this blog. The strip replaces "Fred Basset," which is 45 years old and whose creator died in 1991. We think it's time to give a new pooch a position in the Advocate. However, you're the ultimate judge. If this dog doesn't hunt, let us know. If you would like us to add a different strip, we'd like to hear that as well.
