I will be in Austin attending the annual board meeting and convention of the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas.

I'm privileged to serve on this board and represent South Texas' interests in promoting the freedom of information for all. You may think of this as a newspaper or media cause, but really it's an issue that should be near and dear to all who cherish democracy.

I look forward to seeing the Texas Association of Broadcasters honor Laura Prather for her hard work in getting passed into law the Texas Free Flow of Information Act. One convention session of particular interest is "exploring the growing implications of the use of social media by elected officials and government employees."

I'll post updates via Twitter as best I can to keep you informed of what's happening in Austin:

Today's Poll "Should the Federal Reserve be audited" Yes/No is a bit confusing to me. I am no expert but I have watched much of Ben Bernanke's testimony before Congress. I understand that most of what the Federal Reserve does is audited. The audit of "monetary policy" is the part that Ben Bernanke objects to. I believe there is good reason not to audit the monetary policy of the Federal Reserve.
