As I sit here stuffed, I realize I should pause to say thank you. I have so many people to thank that I'll never be able to fully do justice to them all.

Of course, I have to start with my family. I would be nothing without all of them: my wife, my kids, my parents, my siblings and my extended family members.

Along the way, I've made many friends who have enriched my life in so many ways. I hope you all know how much you mean to me, even if day-to-day life gets in the way of our bond at times.

My life is filled with many other gifts, particularly my co-workers and my community. People may know the editor as a top dog at a paper, but so many other people truly do so much to make a new edition possible 365 days a year. They all have my heartfelt thanks.

Finally, Victoria deserves a special salute. I've said many time since moving here almost three years ago that this is the friendliest place I've ever lived. So many people have welcome my family and me to this community. Even strangers make my day a little brighter with a kind word or two at a store or elsewhere around town.

Happy Thanksgiving.

  • One of the most pleasant surprises I received upon moving to Victoria six years ago was the quality of the Victoria Advocate. For a small-town paper, I think you do a tremendous job and hope you continue for many years.
