  • Jared,

I like the tie-in to the Sunday rumor story. Well played, sir.

  • Jared...are you trying to stir the pot? That is some good stuff.

When the Mayor of Brownsville was asked by a reporter if he was going to issue a "voluntary evacuation" he sighed heavily. What's the use in issuing a voluntary evacuation, if people want to leave they are free to leave, if they want to stay, they are free to stay. Hence the word voluntary.

At my emergency preparations meeting this morning, we discussed the importance of people answering their phones in the event an evacuation is called off and they need to return to work. Got quite a few laughs from quite a few folks. "We don't want a repeat of the last time where the only person we could get in touch with was in Dallas."

  • I also heard that the City of Victoria, Victoria County, Country Club, News Center 25, the Advocate, downward expansion, Airline road, downtown sidewalks, the education commission, and the retirement of the city manager, and the VEDC were all controlling and/or related to the Big Al. How else would the county know to build an emergency center? :)

  • I just received a forwarded email from someone called Alex stating that all Hurricane's will be boycotting the destruction of businesses and homes in Victoria this season. This time I hope it's not just a rumor!
