When Victoria Advocate Erica Rodriguez and multimedia intern Drew Stewart met Craig Fox and his family, they saw a larger story crying out to be told.

In occasional print installments, Rodriguez has helped Advocate readers understand the horrible disease called ALS and the remarkable way Fox and his family have faced it. The most recent story Monday in our series called "A Father's Strength" spotlights Fox's daughter, Bailey.

Stewart was so moved by the story of Fox and Victoria's two other ALS sufferers that he decided to make a documentary on the subject. Even though his Advocate internship ended in December, the University of Missouri journalism school graduate stayed on in Victoria to work on the project.

The Advocate and our community will reap the rewards of these two young journalists' dedication. We plan to premiere Stewart's documentary sometime this summer. He hopes to complete the editing before he leaves for a workshop at the Cannes Film Festival. We anticipate the event will be sometime around Father's Day.
