Chris i appreciate that i guess since we have a child that plays for west he as well as us were looking for a little more coverage, but i am sure you are doing the best to make things fair for all the boys here in victoria. well good luck to all the boys this friday and well of course especially for my son. go get get em boys. represent victoria.
I agree with you that a couple more West photos would have been nice to have in Saturday's paper. Our photographers are looking for the best images from the game rather than aiming for a perfect balance between two teams.
I encourage all fans to consider coverage over time rather than based on a single game. For example, West volleyball is the featured team in today's sports section: http://www.advosports.com/news/2010/n...
The point I want to stress is that we cover all of our Crossroads' 25 or so high schools to the best of our ability. We appreciate your help in doing so. You may call (361-574-1222) to let us know about good feature stories, submit photos and video of your favorite players, leave comments at www.AdvoSports.com or via letters sent to letters@vicad.com.
We have no desire or motivation to favor one school over another. We wish all of our teams could win all of their games. Knowing that's impossible, we hope all children, parents and fans enjoy the spirit of healthy competition.
I want to say congratulations to east it was an awesome game but i have to say that i was disappointed with saturdays paper, it was all about east and even though yes they did win west worked really hard as well and all you saw was east fans, east supporters, dont forget west is just on the other side of town but non the less still in town. i felt like vic.advoc. supported only east and how do you think that made the boys from west feel. guess the free press doesnt really care.
One of the wonderful things about our great state is Friday Nite Fever and this game is a perfect example. As in any society there will be some folks on oppisite ends of a bell curve that are way over the top. It is a fantastic feeling when a group or person has success and should be honored by all.
Sometimes when that success generates anger or animosity the person feeling it has a problem and should look within for the reason.
Remember the Titans now move on to represent all of Victoria. Good luck and safe travels.
I forgot to mention that Advocate photographers posted about 100 extra pictures from the game. Just follow the link on a game story to the VictoriaAdvocate.com/game/ photo gallery.
