I changed the order of my morning routine Sunday and read the printed Advocate first. Usually, I jump back and forth reading both print and online.

I changed my habit because our technical team was working early Sunday on upgrading the system that powers VictoriaAdvocate.com. We chose early Sunday for the upgrade because that's one of the lowest-traffic times of the week. Did you know 8 a.m. Monday is the highest traffic time for almost all websites?

Unfortunately, we had some unanticipated technical challenges with the upgrade, so we'll have to try again next weekend. Once completed, the upgrade should be invisible to the average user.

However, the upgrade will allow us to roll out new features soon to the website. Our technical team is constantly working behind the scenes to enhance your digital experience. For example, look soon for a news map that allows you to search for stories by location.

The exciting -- and challenging -- part of the digital world is keeping up with ever-improving technology.
