We wish we had a need today for a new feature on our online weather section: a live National Weather Service radar.

Technical wizard Shawn Willmon has worked to enhance our weather section. You may view the radar in various ways, such as by precipitation totals and storm motion. Along with the radar, Willmon has added a digital feed of the NOAA weather radio. Now you don't even have to purchase a special weather radio to hear the NOAA transmissions.

Next, we'll be enhancing our Hurricane Central section in anticipation of Gulf activity this summer. We also will have there a new live hurricane tracking map.

Let's hope we get some rain to put the radar to the test -- it's a little bare now. Of course, we don't need the rain in the form of a hurricane.

We hope you'll check out these new digital features and let us know what else you'd like to see with our weather reporting.
