The city of Victoria's is studying the future of its municipal pool. The news took me back to a family vacation a few years ago to Nebraska of all places.

While visiting relatives in Omaha in 2008, I blogged about our visit to the nearby small town of Fremont, where the town had built what it called a splash station. I would describe it as more of a small water park, featuring a lazy river, wave pool, a tube slide and splash pad.

The town of 26,000 paid for the construction through a $6 million bond and then paid for the bond and supported the splash station's operation through user fees. What do you think of this idea for Victoria?
