What would you consider to be the key to your success?

Mumphord’s Place first graced Victoria with its barbecue 19 years ago.

"It all started at our 114th family reunion when we were in the backyard and decided to find us a place to open up a barbecue place," said co-owner, Ricky Mumphord.

Some of Mumphord’s signature items include their mother’s potato salad recipe and their green beans.

Their ribs, brisket and turkey are the restaurant's three top sellers.

"Turkey flies out of here the fastest because people are buying that all the time," he said.

Mumphord said it takes about eight hours to cook brisket. To be consistent, they constantly turn the meat to make sure it stays moist.

"We cook it like they taught us when we were kids," he said. "We are always cooking, turning and flipping and doing what we can do to be the best here and anywhere."

Best of the best voters still agree that Mumphord’s Place is where to find the best barbecue in the Crossroads.

Mumphord said they take pride in what they do and work hard to be good at it.

"It’s a nice feeling to be the best in what we do and to have Victoria support us like this," he said.
