The South Texas Strutters at Debbie Bennett Green School of Dancing has been teaching the art of dance to the Crossroads for 38 years.
"We always tell the staff that every child should learn something new everyday before they leave class," said Bennett Green Cain, co-owner and lead choreographer.
The studio was started by Cain’s mother, Debbie Bennett Green, in 1980.
Cain said her mother makes people fall in love with the art of dance and believes every class should be fun.
"Our main focus is to engage and build relationships with the children in a place where dancing is fun. That's what we live by," Cain said.
The school offers classes in every style of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical and more.
With locations in Port Lavaca, Cuero and El Campo, the classes are available for students as young as 18 months and up in competitive and noncompetitive dancing.
"When they come in, they get the best of both worlds. They receive the best training and a fun atmosphere," she said.
The South Texas Strutters at Debbie Bennett School of Dancing was voted best dance school for the fifth time by Advocate readers.
"It's a great feeling," Cain said. "We feel very blessed that people recognize that we love what we do."
