How long have you been active in the Crossroads?
I have been involved for close to five decades doing community service work and being active in the crossroads. I was also a teacher for 37 years for the Victoria Independent School District, which was very fulfilling working with our students. It has been a great experience, and I want to continue to serve.
What would you consider to be the key to your success?
I would say that wanting to be involved and loving our community are the major reasons. I enjoy the interaction with others and want to help provide service to nonprofit organizations and individuals who are in need. It is a very rewarding feeling to give to others and being of service.
Why do you think our readers voted for you?
I hope they see that I really care about being a positive influence to people and the organizations they represent. From seniors to children and students, to the military and all pets, it is an extreme pleasure to help in some form or fashion. I love them all.
What does it mean to you to be Best of the Best in your category?
I am humbled by the fact but also want to recognize that there are many terrific volunteers who do a wonderful job of helping many causes. I am blessed to be one of those volunteers who is called upon and wants to provide service. I truly enjoy what I do and have done so for many years. It is the very best!
