Dance Instructor wins Best Youth Coach

Bennett Green Cain is pictured with one of her dance classes at South Texas Strutters. Bennett was recently named Best Youth Sports Coach in the 2018 Best of the Best

Bennett Green Cain has been dancing since the day she could walk.

"I started teaching when my mother allowed me to," Cain laughed.

The longtime dancer has been teaching at her mother’s studio, the South Texas Strutters at Debbie Bennett Green School of Dancing, for almost 20 years.

As the studio's co-owner and lead choreographer, Cain said she has loved every second she spends with the kids.

"The kids themselves are always so much fun to work with,” Cain said.  “It can go from entertaining to rewarding in a snap of a finger."

One of the most important lessons Cain teaches is not only to have fun, but also the proper technique of dance.

"The technique portion is really important because it builds the foundation of dance," she said.

Advocate readers voted her the best youth sports coach in the Crossroads. Cain said the recognition is not only exciting for her, but for her staff as whole.

"I’m just part of a team here," she said. "We are excited to see that our work is being recognized by our students and those who see us in the community."
