The Victoria Generals used a five-run eighth inning to help erase an early seven-run deficit against the Brazos County Bombers en route to a 10-8 win.

It was all Bombers at the start as they built a 7-0 lead after three innings. But the Generals got a run back in the fourth on a Deryk Serbantez solo home run.

After a scoreless fifth, the Generals scored three runs courtesy of a two-run single by Cole Taylor and an RBI bunt single from Justin Barr to pull within 7-4.

The Generals tacked on another in the seventh on a Serbantez RBI single.

The Bombers made it 8-5 with a run in the eighth.

The Generals rallied with a two-run double by Zac Vooleitch and Tanner Roach's RBI single cut the lead to 8-7.

Reese Johnson scored tying run when he raced home from third on a high pickoff attempt at first base.

Ryan Flores drew a bases-loaded walk to give the Generals' their first lead of the game. Payton Robertson then added another run for the Generals with a sacrifice bunt.

Zach Smith earned the save with a perfect ninth inning, thanks to a diving catch of a line drive by Johnson at third base for the final out.

With the win, the Generals improved to 22-12 on the year.

Serbantez, Taylor, Vooleitch each drove in two runs.  Serbantez also pitched three innings, striking out six and yielding one earned run.

The Generals' scheduled games at the Baton Rouge Rougarou on Saturday and Sunday have been canceled because of Tropical Storm Barry.
