UHV senior Michelle Revels has been honored with selection on the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America NAIA Softball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Revels, a communications major from Corpus Christi, has a GPA of 3.97 and was named to the All-America second team as an outfielder.
She is the third UHV softball player to earn the Academic All-America award.
She is a two-time Google Cloud Academic All-District first team selection and joins Ashley Winegeart (2014) and Emily Bergstrom (2012) as the only other UHV Academic All-Americans.
CoSIDA members select the teams, which recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Revels just completed her four-year career with the Jaguars, where she was named to the Red River Athletic Conference first team and Champions of Character team. This past season she compiled a .321 batting average with a team-high 13 doubles. She also drove in 29 runs, scored 15 runs and compiled a .409 on-base percentage.
She earned recognition on the UHV Dean’s List seven times and the President’s List six times, served as a HOSTS mentor in the local schools and was named the RRAC Character Athlete of the Week this spring.
She earned the 2017-18 Red River Athletic Conference Betty Etier Female Character of the Year award and is a three-time RRAC scholar athlete, three time all-conference selection and two-time Daktronics-NAIA scholar Athlete recipient.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America College Division Softball Team produced an average GPA of 3.88 with the first team combining for an average of 3.91.
