American flag

When did our country change to such an extent I’m beginning to doubt the very core of who we are as Americans?

Our values, morality, faith, patriotism and what we stand for are vanishing. Washington politicians are trying to change this country forever. We’re heading in a troubling direction and I feel I’m not alone with these feelings.

I remember when President Kennedy was President. Was he perfect? No. He put a man on the moon. He was the first Catholic President. He showed strength during the Cuban missile crisis. He did not fail this country and showed unwavering strength. He was a Democrat and the country loved and admired him. When he was assassinated, the country mourned him immensely. Not because he was a Democrat or Republican but because he was our President and held the highest office in the land. He made sure everyone understood that we “ask not what our country to do for us but what we could do for our country.” The Peace Corps was born out of this mindset. In my mind, he was truly the last great Democrat.

I’m older now and I love our country. I feel we are becoming a country of disdain for any individual thought or view when it does not adhere to another person’s faith, character or moral compass. We have literally become a one-sided, one belief country who cancels everyone who doesn’t agree with them.

We are now experiencing a “racist, xenophobic, cancel culture, and white supremacy” mindset from thousands of people. I grew up and was taught this was wrong. Never judge a person based on color or race, whether they had money, or how they defined themselves. I was taught never to steal, lie, cheat, or destroy peoples’ property. If you did these things, no one would trust you. You would be held accountable. More importantly, these actions were wrong. Rioters destroying businesses and corrupt politicians are unacceptable. Period.

Our country was thriving under the previous administration. President Trump faced endless hearings, accusations and more. Some may dislike his massive ego, his endless tweets and the way he calls people out for their actions. He was too transparent and had no filters. We have no transparency now with the current administration. President Trump did an amazing job that helped all Americans and businesses. Under our current administration, with the swipe of a pen, from Day One, everything President Trump accomplished in his four short years in office to help Americans has been lost. Damage is being done to our country every day.

I am not biased. I am not a racist. I am a conservative. I vote the candidate, not the party. The divisiveness of our leaders must end now. They speak unity but are not sincere. Since when did compromise and trying to get along become outdated.

We need to take control and demand our leaders work together and stop the one-sided government we currently have. In the end, it will affect all Americans and make us much less safe and definitely hurt our families. Stand up for what it RIGHT to benefit this great country.
