They say you've gotta catch 'em all.
That includes the Friday release for "Detective Pikachu" for the Nintendo 3DS.
Although a spin-off from the "Pokémon" series, the game seems to be gaining some momentum on social media, with people taking to Twitter saying they're pretty excited about the release.
My most anticipated game this month is Detective Pikachu, followed by Kirby. It just seems like a really fun adventure and a really unique look at the Pokémon world.— Andrewmated (@Andrewmated) March 13, 2018
Detective Pikachu looks so good and fun. I wanna play!— Charmander (@HeckYesPokemon) March 23, 2018
Personally, I'm not a huge "Pokémon" fan. Nothing against the lovable characters, I think I just missed the boat long ago. However, I did go pretty crazy with "Pokémon GO" when that came out. I'm not saying I spent hours walking through Riverside Park capturing and battling on my draining iPhone. OK, I am saying that.
Do you follow the Pokémon series?
Aside from "Pokémon GO," the last big release was "Pokkén Tournament," which was released in 2016 for WiiU and September 2017 for Nintendo Switch.
I really advise you to check out Miranda Sanchez's review on IGN about the game. The game, for those who don't know, centers around Tim Goodman, whose father went missing two months prior to the adventures in "Detective Pikachu." Tim meets Detective Pikachu, and goes on an adventure with him to find out what happened to his father.
It's a simple plot and solving the mysterious is pretty easy, Sanchez says, but I really do think fans and people new to the Pokémon series can really get into the story.
There's still time to get the game, which is $39.99 at GameStop both in-store and online.
Oh, and if you're a fan of collecting amiibos like I am, there is also an adorable Detective Pikachu amiibo for $29.99.
Double oh, there is also a movie coming out in 2019.
