PlayStation 4

Sony PlayStation 4

It goes without saying, the gaming industry makes its bucks through Black Friday deals.

If you’re shopping for yourself or for a gamer in your family and you’re trying to sift through the mountains of deals out there, look no further.

I’ve scoured the web looking for some of the best deals I could find, and I have to say, some of them are pretty great.

Whether you can get the deal with the mad panic that is Black Friday, well, that’s a different story.

The consoles

Whether you’re looking for a PlayStation 4, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, PlayStation VR or Nintendo Switch, you’re guaranteed to find a pretty good deal. Most retailers – from GameStop and Best Buy to Amazon and Walmart – will have these consoles that are bundled. Starting on Black Friday, these consoles will be sold for $100 less than the retail price. Example: Xbox One S Minecraft Creators Bundle comes in at $199. Not only do you save $100, but you’re getting the 1TB console, which gives you more space, plus 1,000 Minecoins, 14-day Xbox Live Gold and 1-month Xbox Game Pass trial. You also get a starter pack with different skins for your character. If “Minecraft” isn’t your cup of tea, Amazon and other sites have other bundles that are slightly more expensive that include games like “Battlefield V” and “NBA 2K19.” PlayStation 4 1TB Spider-Man bundle is also available at $199, so that’s also $100 off. Nintendo Switch has one bundle with “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” for $299. You only save about $60, but if you’re really wanting this, you probably won’t find a better deal than that.

Games, other accessories

These. Deals. Are. Literally. Everywhere.

Specifically, GameStop. There, you can save some cash on certain PlayStation 4 and Xbox games from “Detroit” to “God of War.” Some of these games are still running about $40-plus, so the fact that you can get some games for under $20 is a good deal. If you’ve been playing too many video games and your controller is on the fritz, now is your chance to get controllers, too. Both Xbox and PlayStation 4 are dropping their prices by about $20. Also, I’m a big supporter of GameStop, because I love brick and mortar. So if you go to GameStop and purchase an new Nintendo Switch, Xbox One or PlayStation 4, you’ll also get a $50 gift card. That pretty much covers a new video game or at least two other used games. This offer, however, is not valid with the 1TB Spider-Man PS4 and 1TB Minecraft Xbox One S Bundle. Also, certain used games prices will be slashed. While these games are older, they make great gifts for the gamer in your family. Example: “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” is $11.99 and “Gears of War 4” is $6.99. I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for quantity at Christmas (Go ahead, call me spoiled.) I’d much rather get three or four used games that I don’t have for $50 than one $50 new game.

The deals really feel endless. I suggest keeping up with IGN.com and Polygon.com.
