Victoria County Crops Tour set for June 18th. We will begin the day with registration at 1 p.m. at Hermann Sons Hall in Dacosta. The program will start at 1:30 p.m. with Stephen Biles, County Extension Agent - IPM, discussing row crop integrated pest management and the new gene drive program. Melissa Barton, Texas Department of Agriculture Inspector, will follow with a discussion of pesticide laws and regulations. Next, Dr. Josh McGinty, Extension Agronomist, will discuss herbicide application in fields to minimize drift. The field tour will begin at approximately 4:15 p.m. and will include two stops where various field demonstrations will be discussed. A management discussion of herbicides for various field problems will be conducted by Dr. Josh McGinty. The tour should wrap up at 6 p.m. with a sponsored meal back at Dacosta hall. The event will also provide 3 hours (1 hour IPM, 1 hour laws and regulations, and 1 hour of general) of continuing education credit for pesticide applicator recertification.
